HUL Pureit taking down Indoor Pollution I

One word that goes hand in hand with the Delhi atmosphere is ‘Hazardous’. Over these months, we have also established the fact that it’s not only Delhi whose air has become uneasy to breathe, but almost all the other metro cities, affecting us in a great way.
After our massive Diwali celebrations this year, we witnessed the trailer of something that could soon become a horrifying movie if we don’t seek corrective measures, or prevention methods at the least.

We live in a country which has secured 1/3rd of the world’s total asthma patients. Issues like coughing, sneezing, wheezing, burning eyes are just the start of something big and permanent as prolonged lung damage.

But this isn’t just the cause of lung damage or a respiratory problem. The pollutants that are evident to the eyes are not the only dangerous thing around us. Air pollutants include smoke from traffic, dust from roads and construction sites, bacteria, virus and most importantly elements called PM 2.5 which go deep into lungs and blood.

Another source of these diseases, which was so much understated earlier, has made this whole situation even worse – Indoor Pollution. The pollution inside our homes/offices builds up due to the internal factors like cooking, and external elements that clings on to almost every other piece of furniture or sets on the surface!

We can somehow avoid a great deal of pollution prevailing outside in the open, but how does one escape the pollution indoors?
We spent 90% of our times indoors, and 90% of indoors in that polluted air.

It is a little too late to take corrective measures right now; all we have in our hands are preventive methods. One such preventive measure is getting an Air Purifier for all the time you spend indoors.

I have been reading a lot about Air purifiers from the last few days, and I will be telling about a couple of them on my blog in the coming week.

Just as a water purifier works, an Air purifier purifies by passing the Air through specialized series of filters. These three filters are:
  1. Prefilter: Removes large particles, pet hair, etc.
  2. ·        HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Adsorption): Removes Particulate Matter (PM 2.5), smoke, bacteria and virus
  3. ·        Activated Carbon Filter: Remove VoC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and Odor.

One of the leading water purifier brand, Pureit has also launched its own range of Air purifiers.
Pureit Air Purifier comes with Purelung technology which is India’s first Air Purifier ceritified to remove 99% of 6 different types of pollutants in just 1 hour. 6 different types of pollutant being:
  • ·        Cigarette Smoke
  • ·        Dust (Like airborne micro dust)
  • ·        Particulate Matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10)
  • ·        Air Borne Bacteria (Similar to Tuberculosis and Conjuctivities)
  • ·        Air Borne Virus (Similar to H1N1 and Influenza)
  • ·        Allergens (Pollen, Mold Spores, Dust Mites, and Pet Dander)

Covers pretty much all of it, I suppose.

‘Air Quality Indicator’ (AQI) uses sensors to detect the pollutants in your room and show you how polluted your indoors are.
It comes in handy when the user chose to run the purifier in an automatic mode where the sensor will sense and decide on the speed of the purifier.

One thing that annoys about these kinds of units is the LED display blinking right at the face all night, or the noise of the fan that keeps buzzing. To cater this, they have a Night Mode which switches off all the LED in the display panel and reduces fan speed to the quitest mode.

Also, they have a pre – determined time period in the device for 2, 4, and 8 hours for easy operations! The overall power consumption of a unit is as low as ceiling fan.
More expensive and heavy units are powered with dual fans and filters for powerful purification. While every other competitor makes claim on filter efficiency, Pureit make the claim on product’s working efficiency.

It also brings about the world’s first refresh rate. No other unit would tell you how many times your room’s air has been refreshed.

Pureit makes about 1 million water purifiers in India alone every year and is the world’s largest Water Purifier Brand. They use not just 1, but 2 carbon in every purifier, that is 2 million carbon cartridge every year. They are experts on PCarbon Filtration and have used their expertise to deliver good gas and odour removal as well, over and above usual HEPA filter which every other competition offers.

Pureit purifies the air by their filters, but how would you know if your filters need purification too?
Here’s how - Pureit Promise of ensuring that you get an alert when your filters are due for a change and shut the device out post filter expiry to ensure you are always breathing only the best air.

Pureit circles around the very basic purpose of Air purification from the depths. They have been putting in their resources for spreading awareness about how increasing population is affecting the masses.

They even have a Free Home Demo which would help make up your mind faster: Demo
